2008 Rolex Awards for Enterprise shortlists six MENA projects

Six projects in environmental awareness and conservation, cultural, heritage and science from the Middle East & North Africa (MENA) have been shortlisted for the 2008 Rolex awards for Enterprise, the Rolex awards Secretariat announced in Egypt recently. The regional shortlist includes one project each from Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and the UAE and two from Turkey. The shortlisted candidates include Prof. Talal Akasheh, a Chemistry Professor from Jordan; Habiba Al Marashi, Head of the UAE Environmental Group; Franziska Arici, German agricultural engineer based in Turkey; Najib Saab, Editor-in-chief of Lebanon based Al Bia Wal Tanmia (Environment & Development); Prof. Mustafa Sari, a fisheries management expert based in Turkey and Gianluca Serra, Italian conservationist based in Syria.
