Modern society and social media has meant we live in an alien environment where we eat with our eyes. Yet things weren’t always this way. Take status for example. Traditionally, status was defined by one’s family, wealth, job, etc. - all of which ultimately determine one’s power. Since influencers or bloggers with many followers are capable of showing masses of readers beneficial or detrimental information (take Kendall Jenner’s tweet that notoriously cost Snapchat Inc. over $1,300,000,000), one can then conclude that the amount of followers that one has, to a certain extent, also determines their status.
Today, Millionaire Lifestyle may be one of the top dignified luxury and lifestyle blogs on Instagram, but it didn’t always have over one million followers. Like many blogs, it started as a hobby and a place to share the founder’s interests, and like most fourteen year olds, I, the founder, didn’t have a degree in social media techniques nor 10 years’ experience in marketing (although my previous and first-ever blog was acquired by Serious XM satellite radio at age 13) - so I learned between high school classes, altering strategies as I learnt new information.
Naturally I made mistakes. Many in fact. Who doesn’t? Unlike 99% of pages though, Millionaire Lifestyle grew very large, and quickly too, as did several new offshoot and partnered Instagram blogs (two of which passed the 500k benchmark in under two years).
With great followers comes great responsibility- reaching one million+ followers isn’t easy and keeping them isn’t, either. Stop posting for a week, or being relevant, and followers will flock to the nearest competitor. Make any grammatical or informational mistakes and at least several of the million people will voice their superior wisdom in demeaning fashion to make a mockery of you. So it becomes a full-time job (in fact for a team), to arrange and schedule events, generate new business ideas while maintaining relationships with existing clients, planning photo shoots or acquiring quality media as per the brands´ strategy.
Now with over 1,200,000 followers on Instagram, collaborations with some of the biggest names in luxury, and followers such as Diddy, Falcão, and Gordon Ramsay, the horizon looks promising for Millionaire Lifestyle. But things staying as they are right now is as boring as the horizon metaphor, so allow me to answer the frequently asked “What’s next for Millionaire Lifestyle?” question.
Millionaire Lifestyle plans to continue being inspirational and aspirational. To showcase the most elegant and sophisticated products humans can make, from luxury watches to road-hungry driving machines. To bring together a community of people, growing in number of followers. To continue to share different dreams, desires, objects of beauty. This is my dream for millionaire Lifestyle. But of course the best way to stay up-to-date with what’s happening next, is to follow @millionaire.life.style on Instagram!
